Each student gave their individual opinions on each of the three questions. Their responses indicated they had given much thought to the questions.
Dr. Gray’s presentation was well received and he provided a wealth of information that was very beneficial to youth to give them the knowledge and passion to step outside of the box and be the “genius in the group”.
On January 27, 2018, Dr. James Gray presented an excellent presentation on college preparation to students in a Blacks in Government sponsored program “Future Leaders in America’s Government (FLAG). The objective of the seminar was to share with students and parents the importance of beginning research early in preparation for college. Dr. Gray asked each of the students what their anticipated career pursuits are.
In an effort to obtain student participation and to receive input for discussion, Dr. Gray initiated an interactive group exercise whereby students were provided with three critical questions to ponder and respond to. The question was: 1) What is the purpose of college 2) What is the purpose of going to college? and 3) Why select a major? The questions asked embody the theme “Tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today”.
